Microgaming Breaks New Record With Optibet Mega Moolah Jackpot Win

Microgaming Mega Moolah Jackpot Win

Developer Microgaming has broken a new record for its latest Mega Moolah jackpot win.

On August 6, 2021, an anonymous player registered with Optibet triggered a gigantic jackpot prize of €7,231,507.69, three months after another customer registered with the same Enlabs-owned casino website triggered a €6.5 million win.

Like with all other Microgaming jackpot wins, the giant €7,000,000 progressive jackpot win will be paid as a lump sum rather than in instalments. The winning player is the 101st to be made an instant millionaire on the network to date, with the classic Microgaming Mega Moolah jackpot slot having paid out a record-breaking €19.4 million since April 2021.

John Coleman, the CEO at Microgaming, said in a statement: “Huge congratulations to the winning player – we’re used to seeing massive jackpots drop on Mega Moolah, and €7.2 million is a fantastic amount to win. Well done to Optibet for claiming a second consecutive Mega jackpot on our network.”

Chris Davis, the CPO at Enlabs, added: “We were delighted when Mega Moolah dropped at Optibet the first time, but for it to happen a second time a matter of weeks later is remarkable. I am certain that both existing and new Optibet customers will appreciate that this situation can only be attributed to the luck of the brand.”

The Mega Moolah jackpot win comes after a Belgian customer registered with Napoleon Sports & Casino won a whopping €19,430,723 jackpot win on the Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah jackpot slot in April, and after a second Belgian Napoleon Sports & Casino won a €2,025,388 on Microgaming’s Sherlock & Moriarty WowPot jackpot slot in the same month.

Betting Shops Are The Best At Age Verification Tests

A brand new study from independent analyst firm Serve Legal has revealed that betting shops are the best at completing ID verification to prevent underage customers from gambling.

The firm’s study saw Serve Legal carry out “secret shopper” tests to check whether staff at betting shops, supermarkets, and petrol stations completed ID verification. The firm found that 90% of the betting shops included in the study passed verification checks, while only 77% of supermarkets and 76% of petrol stations did.

According to Serve Legal, only 67% of betting shops passed verification checks when they were first introduced. The increase in the number of betting shops completing verification checks reflects the gambling industry’s tougher stance on preventing underage gambling.

Michael Dugher, the Chief Executive of the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC), praised the news in a statement, saying: “Regulated BGC members have a zero-tolerance approach to under-18s betting and I am delighted to see that the age verification systems in place in betting shops are robust. By any measure, age verification standards have improved since they were first introduced and once again betting shops are leading the retail sector in terms of compliance.

“I want to pay tribute to betting shop staff who, like other retailers, have endured a very challenging year of closures, restrictions and fast-changing Covid-19 guidance. Despite those pressures, they have remained absolutely focussed on ensuring the safety of customers and the protection of young people.”

Dugher continued: “The work we are doing in betting shops is also mirrored in the actions we are taking online, including new tools to prevent under-18s seeing betting adverts and new age verification checks on digital platforms such as YouTube. There’s more to be done and we encourage social media platforms to do more. We also need to ensure that customers continue to stay in the regulated industry – and not gamble with the unsafe, unregulated black market, where there are no checks or protections.

“Meanwhile, the Young People’s Gambling Harm Prevention Programme, funded by £10 million from BGC members and delivered by YGAM and GamCare, continues to make impressive inroads, reaching half a million young people in the first six months of this year. I am proud of the progress we are making in betting shops, online and in casinos. I am absolutely determined – as our members are – that we build on these achievements and continue to do more to protect young people.”

Similarly, Pragmatic Play’s agreement with Loto Giro in Brazil sees the studio’s video slots, virtual sports content, and live titles like Mega Wheel and blackjack launch with the gambling website.

Victor Arias, the Vice President of Latin American Operations at Pragmatic Play, said in a statement: “We’ve focused hard on bringing multiple verticals to operators in Latin America and we’re delighted to take three of our product ranges live with Loto Giro across Brazil. Growing our footprint in Latin America has been a major commercial focus for us and we look forward to further expansion in the near future.”

Edson Mendonça, the CEO of Loto Giro, added: “Adding premium content to our platform is something we’re keen to always do and partnering with Pragmatic Play allows us to add three leading verticals with one swift integration.
